How we work

Expensive is easy. True is what clients remember.

The Story Room started as a two-person documentary unit shooting festival shorts. We kept getting asked by small businesses to bring that same eye to their brand — so we did, without losing the part where the footage actually looks real.

We don’t write a script until we’ve heard the story in the client’s own words, and we cut the clever shot if it gets in the way of the true one.

Listening session to final cut

Four steps, one working camera.

01

Listen

A half-day conversation on location, before any filming, to find the story that’s actually true.

02

Shoot

One to three days on site with a documentary-style crew, filming what’s real instead of staging what’s convenient.

03

Cut

A first cut within two weeks, built around the story we heard, not a template timeline.

04

Deliver

Two rounds of revisions, then the full cut, thirty-second social edits and a vertical version, in every format you need.

What we don’t shoot

No weddings, no events, no stock footage.

We shoot brand films, founder stories and short documentary series for businesses — nothing else. We turn down projects where the ask is ‘make it look expensive’, and we never let stock B-roll stand in for your actual team, space, or product.

Got a story worth telling?

Let’s find the film in it.

Send us the outline of what you do and who you do it for. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a 90-second piece or a full documentary series.
